Bláthnaid & Dáire: Love Beneath The Cherry Blossoms

A sprinkle of love, a dash of laughter, and a blanket of pink blossoms made this wedding one to remember.

Beneath the delicate pink trees at Gloster House, this fabulous couple exchanged ‘I do’s’ and the results captured by Claire from Studio Brown, are simply sublime.

An Irish couple based in New York, Bláthnaid and Dáire knew they wanted to come home to tie the knot and chose the perfect venue to do it! Keeping with the 2023 theme, Bláthnaid chose a beautiful ballgown dress with soft hues of baby pink that looked perfect as part of her spring nuptials.

We just adore Bláthnaid’s dress with its delicate array of blush pink blossoms throughout a sweetheart neckline and magnificent ballgown skirt. Its story is so special too! “My name, Bláthnaid, means ‘blossom’ as Gaeilge,” says the bride.

“When I found the dress with my mother at Kleinfeld, it was also cherry blossom season in New York; we knew it was meant to be! The design and craftsmanship in silk organza was so incredibly special and with my love of fashion, I felt like ‘she’ had a life all of her own. We’ve called her Blossom ever since!”

We’re told that this couple grew up in the same county and went to the same university but as fate would have it, their stars aligned much later through the magic of an online dating app while both living in Dublin.

They say that the familiarity made the relationship feel ‘like home’ from the beginning. Soon enough came time for some big changes; a move to New York and a very special question: “Will you marry me?”

Their beautiful moongate was built by Bláthnaid’s father and decorated by her sister and maid of honour. Using apple blossoms from their own orchard, a beautiful piece of her family history stood tall and proud on the day.

“As we are both Irish living abroad, our wedding at home in Ireland was a destination wedding in a way. It was all planned from the US,” says Bláthnaid.

“Many of our immediate family and friends live abroad too, so lots of guests travelled to be with us. And so, under the Irish sunshine and on a blanket of cherry blossom, we tied the knot with a Celtic handfasting in the Italianate gardens of Gloster House, Co. Offaly.”

We love Percy the peacock roaming the grounds of Gloster House, definitely a good omen on your wedding day!

The couple were delighted to have all of their family and friends in one place for their big day and Bláthnaid tells us that she knew right away that Gloster House was the perfect for their day.

“We went in search of a private hire venue and found Gloster House online. While at home for a visit, my mother and I went to view it and fell in love instantly, I called Dáire straight away and said, ‘it has to happen here!’”

“The house is the family home of Tom and Mary Alexander, they have spent almost twenty years restoring the Georgian manor to its former glory,” says Bláthnaid.

“They have done it with such authenticity and care, the architecture and interiors of the house are out of this world. The acres of gardens are also heavenly! Mary and Tom were such warm hosts, it really did feel like our own home. I cried when we had to leave, we wanted to stay there forever!”

These fabulous images captured through the lens of Studio Brown encapsulate everything good about a spring wedding!

Again the soft blushing pink was incorporated into the decor to give an elegant, bright and vibrant energy. The lush verdant greens give this wedding a zesty joie de vivre that we just adore!

We wish this couple so much love, luck and happiness in the future! And a huge  congratulations on having such a magnificent celebration.
